Separation Anxiety

Since before I had my baby I decided to stay home with him for a few years to be able to take care of him and watch him grow everyday, something I knew I wouldn’t be able to do if I stayed at my previous job.

I don’t regret this decision at all. I was there when he mumbled his first word, when he started trying to roll over and crawled. I watched every step he took trying to stand up on his own and was there when he took his first step. I knew these moments were priceless and I wouldn’t want to miss them for the world.

But this decision also had to come with, well I don’t want to call it a negative side, but it came with a package.

He got very attached to me, which is a normal thing, a child would always be attached too his care giver, but his fear of separation is not helping me get anything done sometimes. He would really get upset if I left without him or let him play in the playground with his nanny. he would cry and refuse to play.

It breaks my heart when I see him like that but I cant be around him 24/7 ! I want him to be social and not too attached to me or his dad.

It even got worse when his nanny left he got even more attached to us, me and his father, and now that the new nanny is here he really hates her and wont give her a chance. even though she is trying but he wont let her changes his clothes or feed him.I cant leave him with her anywhere he would cry non stop even if my parents were there to watch over him :(

I thought about getting him into a nursery but I just cant see that happening I wouldn’t bare leaving him crying for hours I’m afraid his fears would get even worse. He will be 2 years old in September so he cant talk or understand that I will be back if I left.

I read over the internet some articles about toddlers separation anxiety  and I hope the tips I got will do some good. I know for sure they will take time and a bit of a cold heart :((

Smart Kids Feeding Essentials

I passed by Mothercare store the other day to buy some traveling food bowels for Msharies meals and I saw these really creative food packing stuff and thought I’d share them…

Misho just loved this snack holder he was carrying it around today eating his fruits  .. its created in a way that the kid would hold it and reach for his snack without creating a fuss and it will give your baby a sense of  independence…

These bowels came with different sizes with lids and a removable base…

I really liked this traveling tray…

Travelling With A Toddler

Since I had Mshari, who is one year old now,I did not travel with him anywhere. Mostly because I’m a bit afraid that I wont be able to handle him on an airplane, or that the change of routine might get him to be grumpy ;-(

I see parents traveling with toddlers and even infants all the time. And when I see how fussy they get on the plane I can’t help but to be afraid of traveling with my baby honestly.

But I want to challenge my self and take the risk now that hes a bit older and more easy to handle. we might do that very soon inshalla :)

please mommy’s, do share you’re tips and advices on traveling with a toddler

Raising Your Child In Kuwait

When we visit other countries and specially when we were in Japan I couldn’t help but notice that every building ,subway, bathroom …etc is very well designed to help parents with babies. they know exactly what they need and they make it easier for people to go out  and travel with babies. the question is : when are we going to learn and do the same thing here?! what do we lack ? brains? money? I really don’t understand why:(

here in Kuwait…

the daily thing I would do is pass by the co-op with Mishari and I hate those metal strollers that are not convenient or safe for the child!

not even one mall has a decent day care service!

one gym in Kuwait has a nursery and its super expensive!

almost all buildings are not baby stroller friendly!

most restaurants don’t even have baby chairs!

and ironically, in  Discovery mall’s toilets ” a mall that is made for children”  there are no changing tables!!!

and why is that?!  because we depend on the help to do the work! meaning  i can’t even go out without her! I don’t want to have one in the first place, but here in Kuwait everything will be hard as hell to do if you go out a lone with your baby…

yes, most of the time I have to take my child with me because I would never leave him a lone with the maid no matter what. after all she is a stranger and I know nothing about her.

I really wonder what will happen if maids are banned in Kuwait?!

Nomade Baby Night Light

I had a hard time when Meshari wakes up at night for his feeding and would never go back to sleep but stairs at the sealing instead and that is because the lamp is a bit bright and makes shapes of shadows on the sealing :(

At Pretty Little Things Expo I saw this night light at (Baby B) . and I thought this was the suitable solution !

This light is an eco-friendly light source. it doesn’t get hot . charge it for 5 hours and it will light up for 7o hours. and the light is not too bright. The sweet owner of BabyB told me that her 3 years old still uses it and keeps it with her in bed at night.

its very useful and safe :). You can get it from Baby B which is located right above The Coffee Bean Alseef. I got it for 11kd I think

Baby Monitor

This is the best baby monitor out there I guess. His got me this from Mothercare when I asked him for one after being tired of getting up every minute to check on Meshari when he is asleep .

You can see and hear the baby. It has a watch and shows the room temperature. you can talk to the baby through it. it has a night vision and a lamp to light in the dark! personally it made my life MUCH easier and I advice moms to get it :)
