Kuwait Media…What Are You?

I saw this cartoon in the sports section of Al-Rai newspaper and I was like is this how we treat people. The cartoon can be understood in two different ways really.
1- Fahad is begging for it
2- He is being humiliated for it
Both ways I see this cartoon is disrespectful for someone wh did something good for Kuwait, not like others.
We have many problems when it comes to media, our media is totally biased and work for certain people or owners only. What they see fit is what they show. Which we forget that media should be unbiased and equal to everything. They should report everything that is a concern to the readers.
Of course all around the world there are biased media and this is normal, however there is alway professional unbiased ones which we do not see in Kuwait.
Another note is the professionalism of reports. The words chosen are very important and some of our newspaper use “dewaniya” talk in some of their articles. Yes I understand you want to eb unique but this is ridiculous. Lets not forget that every newspaper in Kuwait is corrupt (depending on the group).
As for our TV channels, the government or the privately owned. These for me are a disgrace. First they all have to have a “teenagers” show. They all need to have a political show, they all have the “women” show and they all work for their own propaganda. Bad designing, bad hosts and boring information. Most even take a walk through some blogs and go ahead and review whatever those blogs reviewed.
As for our radio, well it’s the same songs over and over again. Nothing new there really just some entertaining shows on Marina specially in Ramadan.
I like to compare ourselves with local channels like Dubai One, Al-Jazeera, Abu Dhabi, MBC and Fox. I know some of those are biased but at least they broadcast internationally and known internationally.
We need a news only channel, an economic channel, maybe some good Kids channel like Qatar’s Bara’em. Anything that will be interesting to watch. We need clean media. Something to be proud of.

Your example of Qatar’s Bara’em is a perfect one. I believe the standard that they are setting is one that should be followed in the region. Simple yet well-packaged.
Obviously, MBC and Dubai One are on a whole different level compared to Kuwaiti channels when it comes to quality programming and overall look & feel. We need to learn to aim much higher and not settle for what’s already been done and achieved.
