Reality Is Me
25th January 2012 by HisMost people would say that I am pessimistic. Although I am not that way, I am more of a realist. See things happen around us and we have different views. The most famous one is the cup of water:

Do you see it half empty (pessimist)? Or half full (optimist)? I don’t see those two, I see that the water will eventually be consumed by someone. Even if you left it there, the water will eventually evaporate (time might differ due to the environment). Although both outcomes are different (positive for someone who drinks it, negative for being wasted). It’s the real deal. This is me being realistic.
Now in life, things happen that we have different feelings about. The thing we are living in right now is the elections for example. I do like that some (and I mean some) are actually trying to send out the message (Sout Al-Kuwait) that it will differ if we vote. I love that. Unfortunately, not everyone will understand this. I mean even if there was 100% voting rate, the society and people will still vote for different reasons (no matter what we tell them). This hopefully will change in time but not soon. However, the good thing about this is that we have a future generation that will be wise and will be the perfect candidates for the parliament.
I always have issues with being optimistic. I feel worse when I am optimistic and then something goes wrong. Imagine you are being promised something big and you do not get it at the end. It’s not that nice feeling you hoped for. On the other hand I don’t like being pessimistic. See, this will only ruin me and the ones around me. People would actually hate pessimistic persons. It creates this environment that we like to avoid.
I got to say that optimism makes people happy (if it doesn’t end badly). In Islam, The prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said “Be optimistic and good shall be found”. It’s this feeling that will make people happy and even strong.
During my life time, I got many reality checks and that made me think this way now. If you will ask, no I don’t believe in ‘The Secret’.
