Got Wasta?

Unfortunately, this is what I am looking for now. This is the way we have to live. If you don’t have a family name or you don’t know someone then your work won’t go through anymore.

“Nas ow Nas” is the quote that goes around here. Yes, this is reality and everyone knows this yet somehow we live in denial when it comes to wasta.

My family were looking for the Ministry of Health sponsor to take my mother abroad for treatment. They rejected because “her treatment is available here”. Since then my mothers condition got worse because of the bad treatment here and doctors that somehow don’t know what they are doing!

One day they give us hope, the next they surprise us with bad news. My mom has been through pain just because the doctors here don’t know what to do.

Yet, the good old Ministry of Health still say her treatment is available. Yet with wasta everything happens. Now that it’s election season, people are telling me to go to that candidate to help you out. So technically I have to promise a vote for someone just to get us the approval.

I’d die for my mother, and I would do anything for her. However, this is the reality of our society. People think it might change. I might be wrong but I still say think again and get a reality check. We live in a wasta.

Even if the good candidates reach the parliament, it won’t change this now. It will take us years to have good systems around Kuwait.

I really had to get it out, I really don’t care anymore.

Sorry to hear that your mother is not doing well. Unfortunately, I have faced similar situations with my direct family members when it came to the quality of health care in Kuwait. It just doesn’t make any sense considering how much money our country has in surplus.

At the very least, the government should ensure that our health and education systems are top notch. I wish you and your family strength during this period. Inshallah, it will turn around in a positive manner. الله يحميكم

People protest for more money when this money can be used to help all the people at onc in having better health and education systems. We will keep being in denial.

    Thanks man

Sorry to hear about your mum, hope she recovers soon.

A sad reality here that only becomes ‘real’ when you are forced to deal with it. Hoping all goes wellfor her. Don’t give up, keep trying, there is always someone out there that can help.

Ironically, if more Kuwaitis had to deal with this then change would happen faster.

    Sorry to hear that..
And sorry for hearing that you have to vote to someone you don’t believe in just to treat your mom outside. instead of voting for someone who can change the system.. but again if her case is critical. then you can’t wait.

    May god grant her health.

I know the feeling when Dad got sick they weren’t going to allow us to take him outside and we didn’t trust them here especially since they were shifty with the diagnosis as one dr wanted to do a triple heart bypass and another said no we won’t need to do anything just a qas6ara… in the end we got the was6a needed and went to Cleveland Clinic and el7emdella this is the 4th year since the operation and he’s better now el7emdella :)

Wishing your mom the best of health very soon and may you find a way to get her the help needed.

I’m realy sorry to hear about ur mom… I hope she gets better soon
Another sad thing in kuwait is that doctors are not appreciated and are always blamed. Why dont u see the millions that are treated and cured. Its not a mirical and we cant realy save everyone but we try our best. The difference between here and outside is not the doctors but the fact that they have better facilities. Most of u dont know whats happening and only jump into conclusions that doctors are not doing the job. Well i assure u that in kuwait we have alot of good doctors and i’m a doctor myself doing everything i can to make all patients well.
